Oh boy, prepare yourself for a long blog post -- I had a hard time narrowing down my favorite images of the year! I had such a good time looking back through the year's photos and was reminded again how lucky I am to capture moments of love and beauty for a living. A sincere thank you to all the amazing couples and families whom I worked with this year -- you make my job a dream come true. Here's to a happy, healthy and beautiful 2015. xoxo
We started out in Jackie Robinson Park in Harlem (the spot of this couple's first date) and ended at sunset by the West Harlem Piers. Solimar is a dancer and one of my favorite parts of this shoot was their impromptu dancing at the park's amphitheater. Adorable! I love this couple's radiant smiles, their love really shines through!
We spent a sunny Saturday afternoon in DUMBO and Brooklyn Bridge Park for this fun engagement shoot. I adore the new large-scale murals up in the area! They made for such a colorful and lively backdrop to showcase this couple's charm and humor. Justin was great about keeping a constant smile on Sarah's face and was always cracking jokes, especially about the fact that we passed several weddings, engagements, birthday parties and quinceanera shoots going on at the same time in the neighborhood. Viva Brooklyn!
For this fall session, we started out at Gantry Plaza Park in Long Island City (the couple's home turf) then moved on to Williamburg water front and ended with a beer at Aurora Bar. Keith works at a brewery so this was a good choice for ending our fun afternoon!
Yayyyy is all I have to say about these photos featuring my handsome younger brother and his gorgeous bride-to-be Maddie. We spent a luxurious 5 hours shooting on a sunny fall afternoon, wandering around different D.C. neighborhoods - we started in Dupont Circle, walked to Adam's Morgan and finished at sunset at Meridian Hill Park. They are getting married this summer and I am absolutely kvelling with excitement! xoxoxo
Well, you can't get much cuter than these two! After sugar-rush inducing sundaes and milkshakes at Brooklyn Farmacy and Soda Fountain, we strolled around Cobble Hill and you couldn't have asked for more beautiful late summer light. I'm looking forward to shooting their wedding in October!
For this session we headed to Sunset Park, which is situated on a hill and provides a beautiful view of the Manhattan skyline. It is also quite an old NYC park and I was enamored of the large trees (which are few and far between in my neighborhood of Long Island City). These two were totally game for all the goofy suggestions I gave them (peaking out of book! twirling! picnic-blanket snuggling!) and I had a blast. :)
This was my first time going to Forest Park in Woodhaven, Queens. The park is quite large and there's a lake, performance bandshell, even a carousal - who knew? These two are both involved in comedy/film for a living so they were cracking each other (and me) up the whole time.
I've know Charles for many years (we interned together at Manhattan Theatre Club the first year I lived in NYC - back in 2006 - and have been friends ever since) so I couldn't be more happy for him that he's found the love of his life Ryan. We started out in Forest Hills then drove down to the Dumbo waterfront. I love their bright shirts and vests!
Not only has Lauren been my BFF since I was 10 years old, but she has been my favorite model/photography subject since the first time I picked up a camera in high school. (I may or may not have made her pose in fairy wings surrounded by twinkly lights in her parents' basement). She has found herself a fine gentlemen and when I was down visiting Austin in March for SXSW we snuck in this portrait session at Shoal Creek Park in Austin. How adorable are they? :)
Can you believe this babelicious cowgirl is my sister!!??? Her wedding is in two and a half weeks and I couldn't be more excited/thrilled/vaklepmt. We shot these when I was down in Austin in March and I'll be going back to TX in about a week to help her get ready for the big day! xoxoxoxoxo
