from Ballerina Project series
From his artist statement:
The Ballerina Project grew from the idea of New York City as a magnet for creativity; each photograph is a collaborative work of dance, fashion design and photography played out against the city's landscape.
Whenever I need a midday pick-me-up, I head over to the Ballerina Project facebook page and look through Dane Shitagi's recent shots for a dose of inspiration. He is a prolific shooter and his fb page is very popular with over 180,000 fans. I'm impressed by not only the quality of his work but how he has used facebook, twitter and tumblr to get his project out there.
I love shots like the one above that integrate the beauty, grace and physicality of the dancers with the shapes, textures and grit of cityscapes.
